About Cookies
Cookies are small text strings that sites visited by the user send to the user’s terminal (usually the browser), where they are stored and then transmitted back to the same sites on the next visit by the same user. In the course of browsing a site, the user may also receive cookies on his terminal that are sent by different sites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), on which some elements (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the site that the same user is visiting may reside.
Thanks to cookies, the server sends information that will be re-read and updated every time the user returns to the site. This will allow the website to automatically adapt to the user, improving the user’s browsing experience. In addition, cookies provide the site operator with anonymous information about users’ browsing, including for the purpose of obtaining statistical data on site usage and improving site navigation. The information collected through cookies can also be used to build a “profile” of the preferences expressed by the user while browsing in order to personalize marketing promotion messages.

Types of cookies
On the basis of data protection regulations, cookies can therefore be divided into “technical,” for the use of which the user’s consent is not required, and “profiling” cookies for promotional purposes, for which the user’s consent must instead be collected. The use of “third-party” cookies also requires informing you and collecting your consent.

In detail:

Technical cookies
This type of cookie is further divided into:

Browsing/session cookies. These are cookies that are essential to navigate within the site using all of its features , such as session maintenance and access to restricted areas. They are strictly necessary, as without them it would not be possible to provide the requested services. These cookies do not collect information to be used for commercial purposes.

Analytics-type cookies. They collect and analyze information about visitors’ use of the site (pages visited, number of hits, time spent on the site, etc.) to optimize site management. These cookies do not collect information that can identify you in any way.

Functionality cookies. They allow the user to navigate according to a selected set of criteria (such as language) in order to provide the user with a better browsing experience. The information collected by this type of cookie is anonymous.

The website works optimally if technical cookies are enabled; however, you can decide not to allow cookies on your computer by changing the settings of the browser you use. It should be kept in mind, however, that if cookies are disabled, some features of the site may be disabled.

Profiling cookies
Through cookies, information can be collected about the user to be used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user when browsing the web (profile).

Due to the impact on the private sphere of the user of the use of such techniques for profiling purposes, the collection of the user’s consent is necessary (Article 122 of Legislative Decree196/2003).

In the event that cookies are used for such purposes , in the site will be proposed a specific brief information (banner) also containing an indication of the mode through which it is possible to express consent to the use of profiling cookies, according to the requirements contained in the provision of the Privacy Guarantor “Identification of the simplified procedures for information and acquisition of consent for the use of cookies – May 8, 2014” . Profiling data are kept for 12 months.

Third-party cookies
Browsing the site may install cookies from other sites, accessible from the site but operated by other parties (third parties). In this case, the site owner acts only as a technical intermediary between the user and these sites.
